Privacy Policy

What VoiceTestLab collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • Free voice tests stay on your device. The vocal range, voice type, low note, Hz/pitch, singing pitch, hearing tests and the voice changer analyze your microphone audio inside your browser. That audio is never uploaded to us or stored by us.
  • AI features use our servers. AI Voice Review and AI Voice Generator require an account and use credits. A recording you submit for review is sent to our AI provider, then deleted once your review is ready. We do not use your recordings to train AI models.
  • Your generated voices are yours to manage. Audio you generate is stored in your account until you delete it or close your account.
  • We don't sell your data and we never see or store your full card number.

Who we are

VoiceTestLab (voicetestlab.com) is operated by [Company legal name], [Registered business address] ("VoiceTestLab", "we", "us"). We decide how and why the personal information described here is used, which makes us the "controller" under the GDPR and the "business" under California law.

Questions about privacy go to support@voicetestlab.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details. Your email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive the name, email address and profile picture Google shares with us.
  • AI inputs. Recordings you submit for AI Voice Review, and the text, character and settings you choose in the AI Voice Generator.
  • Support messages. Anything you send us through a support ticket or by email.

Information created as you use VoiceTestLab

  • AI results. Audio files you generate, the written feedback from AI Voice Review, and a record of each AI task (which feature, when, and how many credits it used).
  • Purchases. Your plan, credit balance, and order and subscription history. Our payment processor tells us whether a payment succeeded; it does not give us your full card number.
  • Technical data. IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, approximate country, and server logs. We use these to keep the site running, secure it, and limit abuse.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. See "Cookies and analytics" below.

What we don't collect

  • Audio from the free tests. Your browser asks for microphone permission, and the analysis runs locally in your browser. The sound never leaves your device.
  • Voiceprints. We don't use your voice to identify you or build biometric profiles.
  • Information from children under 13. See "Children" below.

How we use your information

  • To provide the service — create and secure your account, run the AI features you ask for, store your generated audio and keep your credit balance accurate. (Legal basis: performing our contract with you.)
  • To process payments and keep the financial records the law requires. (Contract; legal obligation.)
  • To keep VoiceTestLab safe — prevent fraud, spam, credit abuse and misuse of our AI features, including the voice impersonation our Terms prohibit. (Legitimate interests.)
  • To understand and improve the site using usage statistics. (Legitimate interests, or your consent where the law requires it.)
  • To talk to you — account emails such as verification and password resets, receipts, important service notices and replies to support requests. (Contract; legitimate interests.) If we ever send marketing emails, every one will include an unsubscribe link.
  • To comply with the law and respond to valid legal requests. (Legal obligation.)

We do not use your recordings, prompts or generated audio to train AI models. We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.

How the AI features handle your audio

AI Voice Review

  1. You record or upload a short clip. It travels over an encrypted connection to our servers on Cloudflare.
  2. We send it to kie.ai, an API provider that relays requests to Google's Gemini models, to produce your feedback.
  3. When the review is finished, we delete the recording from our servers. Only the written feedback and the task record stay in your account.

Our AI providers receive the recording only to return your result. Under their own terms they may keep request data for a short time for security and abuse monitoring. We do not use your recordings for training, and we do not allow them to be used to train models on our behalf.

AI Voice Generator

Your text and settings are sent to the same AI providers to create the audio. The finished file is stored in Cloudflare R2 and listed in your account, where you can play, download or delete it at any time.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as California law defines those terms. We share it only with service providers that process it for us:

  • Cloudflare — hosting (Workers), database (D1), file storage (R2) and network security.
  • kie.ai and Google (Gemini models) — processing AI Voice Review recordings and AI Voice Generator requests.
  • Stripe and other payment processors shown at checkout — taking payments and checking for fraud. They handle your card details under their own privacy policies.
  • Google — only if you choose "Sign in with Google".
  • Analytics providers — Google Analytics and/or Plausible Analytics, when enabled.
  • An email delivery provider — sending account and transactional emails.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or VoiceTestLab, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. In that last case we will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

How long we keep it

  • Account information: for as long as your account is open. After you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize it within 30 days.
  • AI Voice Review recordings: deleted from our servers as soon as your review is complete.
  • Generated audio and AI task history: until you delete them or your account.
  • Payment and tax records: for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
  • Support messages: until your request is resolved, then deleted along with your account.
  • Server and security logs: for a short period, typically no longer than 30 days, unless we need them to investigate abuse.

Deleted data can remain in encrypted backups for a limited time until those backups are overwritten.

Cookies and analytics

We keep cookies to a minimum:

  • Sign-in session cookie — strictly necessary; keeps you signed in.
  • Language cookie — remembers whether you chose English or Chinese.
  • Cookie-choice cookie — remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies.
  • Local storage — a few interface preferences saved in your browser.
  • Analytics — when enabled, Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and see which pages are useful. Plausible Analytics does not use cookies and reports only aggregate statistics.

Where the law requires consent (for example in the EU and UK), we load non-essential analytics cookies only after you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice through the cookie settings link in the footer, block or delete cookies in your browser, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking the session cookie will sign you out. We do not use advertising cookies. Checkout pages run by our payment processors may set their own cookies for fraud prevention.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK, California and other US states, you can:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and get a portable copy.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Delete your information. You can delete generated audio yourself at any time; to delete your whole account, email us.
  • Object to or restrict processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent, for example to analytics cookies, at any time.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing. We don't sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
  • Not be discriminated against for using any of these rights.
  • Complain to your local data protection authority.

To make a request, email support@voicetestlab.com from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity first. We reply within one month, or within 45 days where California law applies. You can use an authorized agent if you give them written permission.

You can also turn off microphone access for voicetestlab.com in your browser settings at any time.

California notice at collection

In the past 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (such as email address and IP address), commercial information (purchases and credits), internet activity (pages visited and usage), audio information (recordings you submit for AI Voice Review), and the content you create. The sources, purposes, recipients and retention periods are described above. We have not sold or shared personal information, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

Children

VoiceTestLab is for people 13 and older, or older where the minimum age in your country is higher. Children under 13 may not create an account or submit recordings. If you are between 13 and 18, please use VoiceTestLab with a parent's or guardian's permission.

Parents and teachers are welcome to play AI-generated audio, such as a Santa message, for children, but the account must belong to an adult. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you think your child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, encrypted storage for service credentials, and access controls that limit who can reach user data. No online service can promise perfect security, but if a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

International transfers

Our service providers operate around the world, so your information may be processed in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws differ from yours. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top always shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will also let you know by email or with a notice on the site before it takes effect.
