When Vocal Image is the better choice

Vocal Image is built as a speaking coach, and it shows. After a short quiz about your goals, it builds a daily training plan of short lessons, including articulation drills, intonation practice, public-speaking scenarios and accent work, with AI feedback on each exercise you record. If you want a structured program you open every day, that is exactly what it's designed for, and VoiceTestLab doesn't offer anything like it.

It also covers more speaking-specific tests than we do: accent tests, a speech test that scores pace, clarity and filler words, a voice archetype test and a celebrity sound-alike test. Its AI Roleplay feature lets you rehearse interviews or first dates with an AI character, and it offers specialized programs, such as voice feminization and masculinization and speech recovery. For leadership presence, interview prep or a long-term voice makeover, Vocal Image is the more complete tool.

When VoiceTestLab is the better fit

VoiceTestLab is for people who want answers about their voice right now, in a browser tab, without starting a subscription. Our measurement tools, including the voice range test, the voice type test, voice Hz and pitch tests, highest and lowest note tests, a singing accuracy test and a live voice tuner, are free, need no account and analyze your audio on your own device.

Singing is the biggest difference. As of October 2026, Vocal Image's website and App Store listing don't mention singing feedback, while our rate my singing review scores pitch accuracy, rhythm, tone, breath support and expression from a 30-second take. For your speaking voice, rate my voice and the voice age test each give you a score out of 100 with tips.

AI features use credits instead of a weekly subscription. New accounts can try it once for free, and after that you can buy a one-time credit pack or choose a monthly or yearly plan. If you only want a check-in every few weeks, a pack is a simple way to do it. We also make original AI character voices and free in-browser voice changers, which are a different job from voice coaching. You can compare other tools in our alternatives section.

Highlights

What you get with VoiceTestLab

The parts of VoiceTestLab that a speaking-coach app doesn't cover, or covers differently.

Singing feedback, not just speaking

Sing a verse or chorus and the AI scores pitch accuracy, rhythm, tone, breath support and expression, with practice tips for your next take. Pair it with the free singing test, which measures how many cents each note is off, to drill pitch between reviews.

Free tests that measure, not guess

Range, voice type, highest and lowest note, speaking pitch in Hz and a live tuner all use pitch detection in your browser. Results come with note names and frequencies, so you can track real numbers over weeks and months.

Your audio stays private

Browser tests analyze your voice on your own device and never upload it. AI reviews send your clip to our AI provider only to produce the result; it is deleted from our servers afterwards and never used to train AI.

No app, no weekly plan

Everything runs in a modern browser on your phone or computer, with nothing to install. Browser tests are free, and AI features use credits, with one free try for new accounts and one-time packs if you would rather not subscribe.

How it works

How to try a free Vocal Image alternative

You can get a full picture of your voice in about five minutes, starting without an account.

  1. Step 1

Start with a free browser test

Open the voice type test or a pitch test and allow the microphone. You get note names, Hz and a result in about a minute, with no account and nothing uploaded.

  2. Step 2

Rate your speaking or singing voice

Create a free account; new accounts can try it once for free. Then read 10 to 30 seconds aloud for rate my voice, or sing a chorus for the AI singing review, and read your score and tips.

  3. Step 3

    Practice and test again

Work on your tips for a week, then record the same text or song section again and compare scores. Retake the browser tests as often as you like; they are free.
