Slow everything down. Monsters are never in a hurry. Stretch vowels, pause between phrases and let sentences fall at the end. A slow, breathy laugh works far better than a fast cackle, which turns comic once it is pitched down.
Don't shout into the mic. The effect adds its own grit, and a clipped recording gets harsh and muddy on top of it. Speak firmly from about 6 inches (15 cm) in a quiet room, since the 7 dB bass boost also brings up room rumble.
Layer a possessed voice. Render the same recording with Monster and then with Ghost, download both and stack them in your editor with the ghost a little quieter. Neither effect changes your timing, so the two voices move in lockstep: the classic sound of something speaking through someone.
Rather type? The scary voice generator creates demon growls and creepy narrators from text with AI; it needs a free account and uses credits. The monster voice changer is free and keeps your own performance. Keep scares consensual, and never use a changed voice to threaten or deceive anyone.
