Researchers have studied what makes a voice attractive for decades, and a few broad patterns keep showing up. On average, listeners in many studies rate somewhat lower-pitched men's voices and somewhat higher-pitched women's voices as more attractive. But the effects are modest, extremes are not preferred, and individual tastes vary a lot, so pitch alone tells you little about how any one person will hear you.
Voice quality and delivery matter at least as much. A relaxed, smooth voice tends to be heard as more pleasant than a strained or harsh one, and studies of first impressions suggest listeners form opinions about a speaker from very short clips, sometimes a single word. Some studies have even found that people shift their pitch slightly when they talk to someone they find attractive. The encouraging part: much of what makes a voice appealing is how you use it, not what you were born with.
That's why this test scores qualities rather than pitch. If you're curious about your pitch anyway, the free deep voice test measures your speaking pitch in Hz right in your browser, and our other free voice tests work the same way, with no account needed.
